Since the opening of ‘the Hub Cafe’, I have been to Matt & Paula’s venue at least once a week and if you haven’t tasted their delicious and healthy foods, then I recommend you visit them too! What makes these two tick:

What does “healthy” or “health” mean to both of you?

Healthy means to be able to eat good wholesome foods, not overly processed foods

Can you give us a bit of a personal background into yourselves and how you got here?

PaulaHas a background in bookkeeping and also an interest in handmade and sewing. When the hub was first started she was approached to put her goods in the shop then she offered to help do the books for the shop, then from there we were offered to run the business and make it our own.

MattWas working as a travelling technician doing repairs to wind turbine blades around the world. Having been travelling fulltime for the last 6 years was looking at a way to stop and spend more time with the family.

We planned on starting the café and having other people work it but after lots of thought we decided that this would not work having different people running the café each day, so we decided that Matt would leave his other work and run the café.

As Paula’s business names is “Serendipity Designs and Creations” we both think that the whole way we ended up running the business was a bit of Serendipity!

What is the future for your business?

We just want to offer good home cooked food that is not processed or commercial!

How are you helping other people in their journey to improve their quality of life & why is this so important to you?

We do our best to help people in the shop to grow their individual businesses and guide them in the correct direction, and for our cafe customers we want to be able to offer good and healthy homecooked food that we would want to eat ourselves

What is your view on natural and complementary options available for assisting people to make healthier changes; physically, mentally & spiritually?

We both are very open to people and their beliefs, we also have used in the past lots of different natural options towards health, e.g. naturopath, herbalist, etc.

What advice do you both have for anyone wanting to make changes in their lives?

The best advice we can give is just do it, if it is meant to happen and work it will, You need to do what makes you happy 🙂

What is one very valuable lesson you have both learned on your own personal journeys that you would like to share with our readers?

That you need to be able to do something yourself if you expect someone else to do it for you.

What are some of your greatest personal and business achievements?

Being able to run the Hub, which currently has about 140 different people selling their goods, along with running the café and also Serendipity designs

What are your ideal goals for your business and personally?

For the Hub to continue to grow and being able to offer the community more, and also to be able to offer more charity spots inside the Hub.

Who (if any) are your inspirations?

Our children!
